Eric Richard Sperry of Farwell passed away at his home on May 23, 2019 at the age of 72. He was born on April 10th, 1947 in Isabella County. Eric was adopted as an infant by the Reverend Leslie and wife Hazel Sperry. Following graduation from high school Eric proudly served in the U.S. Navy. His Navy career sent him on a tour on the Naval aircraft carrier the USS Enterprise. He consequently served two years in Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam. He was decorated with a National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, and Vietnam Campaign Medal with device. Eric’s hobbies included bird watching and spending time with his two favorite dogs, Bear and Ryder. He is survived by his life partner, Laura M. Parks of Farwell, his three children as well as their partners; Eric Boyd of Edenville and his partner Angela Andrews; Leslie “Bud” Boyd of Saginaw and his partner Crystal Hall; and Crystal Boyd of Lake and her partner Jeremy Montoya, seventeen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters; Hazel Jeffrey, Donna, and brother Charles Eaton. Eric was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Leslie and Hazel and his half-brother, Ira Eaton. Honoring Eric’s wishes, a cremation has taken place. A possible celebration of Eric’s life will be announced at a later date.
