Arleen Marie Hubbard, 86 of Lake George, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Arleen was born in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, on June 21, 1933 to parents Walter and Loretta (Duross) Hergenroeder. Arleen’s parents owned and operated the Swiss Inn of Lake George, and Arleen grew up in Lake George and the surrounding areas. Upon graduating high school, Arleen worked in healthcare, later she worked primarily as a homemaker during the daytime, raising her four children, but her passion for feeding the hungry led to her involvement with multiple church-run food pantries in the evenings. On July 21, 1987, Arleen was united in marriage to Mr. Donald. E. Hubbard at Heritage USA in North Carolina, in the replica Last Supper, or “Upper Room”. Arleen and Donald traveled between Michigan and Texas, which led to the purchase of what used to be her grandmother’s home years before, in Lake George. Arleen loved to dance.
Surviving Arleen is her loving husband, Donald E. Hubbard, her four children; Darryl Nix and wife Debra of TX; Ron Nix and wife Jeanie of FL; Lynn Furse and husband Steve of GA; Denise Stephens and husband Frank of VA, four grandchildren, two stepchildren, Donald G. Hubbard and wife Shelley, Donnalee Nicholas and husband Steve, numerous nieces and extended family, as well as loving caregiver Trisha Mae Mortensen.
A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Liberty Baptist Church, 6007 West Mannsiding Rd, Lake, MI 48632. Pastor Peter Gelatt will preside with burial to follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery. Friends and Family may visit at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Memorial considerations to Alzheimer’s Association, envelopes will be made available at the church. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.campbellstocking.com.
