Obituary

Charles “Scott” Lewis McKenzie, Jr. – 75, longtime resident of Lake, passed away in the early morning hours at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City, MI on Thursday, April 9, 2020. Scott was born to parents Charles Lewis, Sr. and Minnie May Converse McKenzie in Montcalm County, MI on January 6, 1945. Scott married Gloria Jean Hart in Barryton on February 16, 1963, and together they raised 6 children. Scott worked many different jobs throughout his lifetime including a stint as a casino manager and a grain mill operator among others. Scott loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and attending the races on Friday nights to watch his sons participate.
Scott will be missed dearly by those whom survive him, including his wife of 59 years, Gloria Jean McKenzie, his sons; Willis Ray (Maria) McKenzie, Scotty Wayne (Cynthia) McKenzie, Norman Leon (Marilyn) McKenzie, Roger Lewis McKenzie and his significant other, Bonnie, Charles Lewis McKenzie III and his significant other, Nellie, one daughter, Betty Tessman, as well as many adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lewis McKenzie, Sr., his mother Minnie May McKenzie, as well as his son in law, Louis Tessman.
In accordance with the family’s wishes and guidelines set by CDC, a memorial service will be held for immediate family only at the Campbell Stocking Funeral Home in Farwell, with the date and time to be announced. My memories are of Scott and Gloria are during my children's years in 4-H, we won't discuss how many years ago. Fantastic mentors and such a loving man to family and friends. I knew and loved Charlie very much, He and I worked together at the Soaring Eagle for many years, Charlie was a very kind and compassionate man, who always talked about his children and his love for his wife, Gloria. I am so so sorry for you lose McKenzie Family
