Ethel Elaine Loomis- age 85 passed away at Pioneer Golden Estates in Clare. Elaine was born on May 29, 1934 to parents Vernie and Bernice (Austin) Hose in Lake City, Michigan. After High School she was married to Alvin “Bud” Loomis on September 10, 1953 in Angola, Indiana. Together they raised their two sons and began their many years as owners and operators of the Shear’s Hardware, which is currently known as Palmer’s Hardware. They also owned and operated the Loomis Resort at Eight Point Lake. Elaine is survived by her sons; Rod Loomis and wife Sandy of Clare, Greg Loomis and wife Shelia of FL, eight grandchildren; Nick Loomis, Stephanie Loomis, Jennifer Giblin, Rosa Loomis, Alex Loomis, Elena Smith, Stephen Stiff, and Hollie Little, eleven great-grandchildren, brother Terry Hose and wife Maxine of Lake, two sisters; Donna Rodabaugh of Clare, and Beth Wood and husband Gary of Harrison. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud on May 26, 2016, her parents and a brother Dick Hose. A private burial will be held for immediate family in Surrey Township Cemetery.
