Harry Jay Drury formerly of Lake Michigan passed away on October 27, 2020 at Schnepp Senior Care & Rehab Center in St. Louis. Harry was born on May 17, 1925 in Lansing, Michigan to parents Perry J and Mary Jane (Simons) Drury. Harry graduated from Sexton High School in Lansing. He was soon after, called to duty and served with the United States Navy in WWII from 1943-1946, as a signalman and machinist in the Pacific Theatre and received several decorations including Asiatic Pacific Theatre, American Area, European African Area, Victory Medal, and Philippine Lib with one star and Points. Some of the ships he served on included the SS Louis Sullivan, the SS Stanford Newell, and the SS William M. Steward. Harry was married to Helen Marie Cairns on June 28, 1946, and together they raised three sons and two daughters. After serving in the Navy, Harry worked as a pattern maker with the Demmer Corp. in the automotive industry, retiring in 1987. After retirement Harry and Helen Marie moved to Lake in 1971. Harry was a member of American Legion Post # 183 in Lansing, a Life Member in the NRA, and the Lake George Booster Club. Harry is survived by his sons; Thomas Drury and wife Jeanne of St. Louis, James Drury of White City, OR, Chris Drury and wife Carol of Bay City, and two daughters; Carol Fernburg and husband Wayne of Eaton Rapids, and Patricia Archbold and husband Richard of Newberry, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
