I will always remember Uncle Sam for his birthday cards. He would never forget, and each one was unique just like him. The best part: there was always a 5$ bill and a signature of Grand Uncle Sam. He will be missed but forever loved.

Uncle Sam was the best uncle! Never missed a birthday or holiday and continued the tradition with all of his great nieces and nephews. I will always remember his annual visits and the trunk load of Verners he would bring from Michigan to New York when we were kids. I loved listening to his stories and learning about about our family tree. We sure do miss him.

Sam was a great friend to Mom and Dad Bates; after they passed away he still came over for coffee with me. We had some great conversations and I truly miss him. Tracy Bates
