Obituary

William James Dorcey - age 84 of Farwell, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Medilodge of Clare. Bill was born January 31, 1937, the youngest of seven children to parents Charles and Ida (Barton) Dorcey, in Whittemore, Michigan.

Following High School, Bill served proudly as a Seabee with the United States Navy from January 1956, until December of 1959. He married Jo Ann Marjorie DaFoe on May 28, 1960 at Grace United Methodist Church in Flint, Michigan. Together he and wife Jo Ann raised three children and were blessed with one grandson. Bill loved to hunt, fish, and his lifelong passion for auto racing, spending many years as a crew member for one of the top teams in the American Speed Association AC-Delso Challenge Series; and also was evident from his collection of auto racing memorabilia. Bill retired from General Motors, Saginaw Division after over 30 years where he was a machine repairman; and a member of UAW Local 699.

Bill is survived by two sons; William J. (Jim) Dorcey, Jr. and Leah, Mark W. Dorcey and Maureen, one daughter, Julie A. Dorcey, grandson Justin, three sisters; Elsie Rytlewski, Janet Kohn, Ethel Blust, and brother Charles (Tom) Dorcey and wife Helen. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, JoAnn, and two sisters; Helen Brotherton, and Clarissa Hoffman. Bill will be entombed in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum in Saginaw, along with his beloved wife JoAnn. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Please consider memorial gifts to Farwell United Methodist Church, 281 E. Ohio Street, Farwell, Michigan 48622. Memories and condolences to Bills family may be shared at www.CampbellStocking.com.
