Lester Frank Cooper – Of Lake passed away at Woodland Hospice of Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the age of 90. Lester was born to parents Bertrand Walton and Thelma Irene (Hayes) Cooper in Detroit, MI on July 24, 1930. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1951 until 1953, and then continued serving in the USMC Reserve until 1962. On October 15, 1955 he married Ruby Corrine Horn at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Detroit, where he served as a deacon at that time. Lester retired in 1992 as a Parts Control Supervisor for Ford Motor Company in Wayne. At that point, he and his wife, Ruby moved to their family vacation home in Lake which was purchased in 1983.
Lester was a 57-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles including the Lake Eagles Aerie 3761 and served as an organizer and past president for the Van Buren Eagles Aerie 3996. He was also a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
Lester is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruby Cooper, their children; Laurinda Cunningham (Ronald Cunningham, Sr.), Darcy Cooper (Judy Revells), Cindy Farmer, Leslie Cunningham, Brian Cooper (Stacey Cooper), and Bert W. Cooper III (Pam Cooper). Grandchildren; Ann, Jennifer (Brian), Ronald II, Mike (Maja), Jeremy (Nicki), Kelly, Danielle, Frances (Steve), Darryl, Gabe (Ed), Alyssa, Keenan, Hailey and Shayna. Great grandchildren; Kylie (Seth), Rya, Angel, Kelsey, Ashley, Shylah, Jozef, Carter, Bishop, Brady, Emelia, Charlie, Jaxson, Alessa, and Jaymeson. Great-great grandchildren; Gideon and Rhodie, as well as a brother, Bert W. Cooper II and his wife, Barbara of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Chris Cooper, as well as his parents, Bertrand and Thelma Cooper.
