Alma Lee Owens of Midland passed away at her residence on Saturday May 8, 2021. Alma was born November 15, 1931 in Vernon Township, MI the daughter of David and Alma Seiter of Clare where she spent her first 45 years. Alma and Ray Owens were married in June of 1950 and raised their family for the next 35 years. The family attended the Clare United Methodist church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and chaperoned many youth trips. Many wonderful family memories were made at 8-Point Lake water skiing.

In the 80s, Alma moved to Midland where she was owner/operator of "A Stitch in Time" sewing alterations. She was a active member of the Living Word Church where she would often use her musical talents and gifts. She was a talented vocalist and it was a joy to hear her sing.

Alma Lee enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren. Alma is survived by her 3 children, Kathy Owens Evans, Bruce (Jan) Owens, Becky Owens Ayers, 5 grandchildren, Katie, Brian, Valorie, Julia and Tyler, 7 great grandchildren, Max, Naomi, Zeke, Henry, Gweneth, Emerson and Tripp. Alma was preceded in death by her parents David and Alma Seiter, a brother David W. Seiter and is survived by her two sisters Connie Garthe and Madeline Brockway.

A celebration of life will take place at the Clare Church of the Nazarene on May 29th, 2021 with visitation at 10:00am and service at 11:00am. In keeping with Alma's wishes, cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be placed at Cherry Grove cemetery next to her parents and brother.

Alma Lee was a dear friend for many years. She was meticulous in dress and an excellent seamstress. There were a few secret recipes that could only be savored as a guest at her table. Her most admirable attribute was her love for the word and enjoying the presence of the Holy Spirit. She enjoyed singing for the Lord in the House of God. There would be no greater reward for her than to be home in the glory with no inhibitations.

Alma Lee was like a second Mom to me growing up! She was a wonderful Sunday School teacher, a chaperone on our cheerleader trips, and a great maker of lots of yummy things to eat! It was always fun to spend the night at their house on 7th street!

I particularly remember a trip to Cheboygan for a football game. The cheerleaders were not allowed to ride the players bus. She made arrangements for us to take sleeping bags and stay at the local Methodist church and she came along as chaperone! What a special person she was!

Spent many an hour in the Owen's living room, and visits with her to revivals and prayer meetings, and water skiing at 8 Point Lake.
